The Great Indian Restaurant

Situated in the buzzing café thoroughfare of Calle Calama, The Great India Restaurant holds its own in the Mariscal restaurant scene as a longtime favorite haunt whose cheap eats lure a stream of local budget diners. Simple and low-key in its setting, the restaurant is brightened up by bustling student crowds and the occasional woman adorning colorful saris and other traditional Indian dress. For vegetarians, The Great India Restaurant is heavenly, with the menu arranged by the separation of meat and veggie dishes. Lassi, a refreshing Indian drink, is available in a range of sweet or salty flavours, and local beers are a bargain with three bottles costing $2.50.

The dearest dish on the menu is the coveted ¨Chicken Surprise¨ at $7.00. Vegetarian mains average at about $3.50 and all meals are accompanied by rice or naan bread. Specialty Indian deserts sell at $2.00

Traveler Reviews of The Great Indian Restaurant

Good Chicken Tikka

As a British expat living in Quito, I was very pleased to find Chicken Tikka Massala on the menu of this Indian Restaurant. The food here is pretty authentic. I would recommend it.
