Turtle's Head

An excellent Scottish-owned pub in Quito's Mariscal district and the only spot in Quito to get home-brewed beer.  Three varieties of micro-brewed beers are for sale from the on-site brewery.  The Turtle's Head also has great hamburgers and snacks along with pool, darts, fuse-ball and occasionally, live music. The pub is very British in look and feel, enhanced by cartoon strips from the adult comic Viz, that are displayed on the walls and in the toilets.

great pub

i love the homebrew its one of the few places to get away from the typical ecua-beer and the food takes you home to moms kitchen

Great atmosphere

The micro brews are very good, but a tad bitter for my tastes. I definitly recommend the negro if you are a Guiness fan. The food was excellent. The ambiance was terrific, definitly a unique experience in Ecuador. For safety, there was a locked gate and a security guard outside. The only thing I could complain about is that the food was a tad pricey.

Awesome

Besides the delicious food, the fabolous beer, I fell in love with Ana, a new waitress.

A Great British Pub!!

It has been a couple of years since I frequented La cabeza de tortuga, but while I was in Quito there was no better bar. The staff were very friendly, as were most of the regular drinkers. The pool table was great, though a little pricey, (take some english 20p's though and its a bargain), the food was good quality, and the choice of beer was the best around. Drinks and food were a little expensive, but you pay for quality i'm afraid.

Great beers

This place was great. The Turtles Head have their own microbrewery. Normally I like pilsner type beers, but this pub has a red-ish coloured beer that is really tasty. Great onion rings too, and lots of fun playing darts, fuseball and reading the Viz magazines that are framed on the wall around the place.

Terrific, fun place. Good food and great ...

Terrific, fun place. Good food and great service. The Turtle's Head is also a popular place to watch international sports: it fills up for the Super Bowl, NBA finals, etc.
