Horse Riding in the Andes Association

An association of local riders headed by the gregarious José Enriquez, Horse Riding in the Andes offers a number of spectacular horseback riding trips in the stunning highlands east of Quito, near Píntag. Trips range in length from short 1-dayers to more extensive 3 and 4-day treks, which involve camping or spending a night or two in cabins. If you’re keen to see something other than city streets, there is really no better way than from the back of a horse. One of the highlights of longer rides is galloping into Reserva Ecológica Antisana, where lucky riders can spot condors soaring over head. All guides are experienced riders, well-versed in local sites and sounds. José has lived in Canada for many years and speaks fluent English. He’s an artist by trade, so if you’re in the market for Ecuadorian-inspired art, ask him. José’s cousin, Jairo, is a professional guide with ten years of tourism experience. Prices for trips include food and transport. For more information contact José Enriquez.
