Guayllabamba is 25 minutes north of Quito, and is the home to the Quito Zoo. The zoo has a great showcase of Ecuadorian animals such as the Andean spectacled bear, the Andean condor and the Galápagos giant turtles. It is one of the biggest zoos in South America and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Head to the La Ofelia station in northern Quito (last stop on the Metrobus). From here you will need to take any one of these green buses: La Cooperativa Pichincha o la Cooperative Flor del Valle ($0.50).
