Hacienda Chillo-Jijón is one of the most elegant haciendas in Ecuador. Built in 1730, it served in part as a textile mill for a good portion of its history. It is conveniently located very close to Quito.

Highly exclusive, Chillo-Jijón is not open to the public and is only available by advance reservation. There are ten suites available, for a maximum of twenty guests at once, and each suite is unique and extravagant. Chillo-Jijón has the feel of a European palace: four-poster beds, wide hallways, portraits on the walls, ornate hand-carved furniture, etc. There is a restaurant at the hacienda.

As far as activities are concerned, Chillo-Jijón is close enough to Quito to be able to take advantage of all that Quito has to offer: museums, sports, cultural events, shopping, etc. In addition, Chillo-Jijón has tennis courts, horseback riding, and a 24 acre enclosed garden in which guests can wander and relax. It is also ten minutes from an 18 hole golf course.

All of Chillo-Jijón’s bookings are done through an affiliated travel agency, Alternative Promotions, and anyone wishing to stay there should contact the agency. Alternative Promotions also sells trips to the jungle and Galapagos.

Chillo-Jijón is one of the more expensive haciendas: posted rates are $245/person/night all inclusive: food, hikes, etc. Lodging only with no meals included is $194/night.
