The hot springs are the main attraction at Papallacta. Just behind the Termas de Papallacta hotel and spa (which has its own, private hot springs), these pools are heated by the Antisana Volcano, and are known for their relaxing, medicinal qualities. For just $7.50 a day (or $3.50 for children and senior citizens), you can soak in these clean and well-maintained public baths. Take your pick from 8 different pools that range from icy-cold to scalding-hot, or make that 9 if you're daring enough to jump into the rolling river that pummels beside the facilities.
Location:
Located up the hill, above the town itself. This place is best reached by hiring a truck/taxi in town (ask around) to take you there, otherwise you can make the 3 km trek on foot.
