The area north of La Mariscal and before the drop-off into the valleys is generally referred to as "el Norte de Quito." Here you will find two of Quito's most beautiful parks, Parque Carolina and Parque Metropolitano, as well as some of the city's nicest restaurants, hotels, malls, office buildings and neighborhoods. In contrast with the Centro Histórico, the northern sector is very modern and developed, with a strong North American influence.
