Almost 2 km in length, Parque Carolina is towards the north of the new town, sandwiched between residential and commercial districts. It is the number one choice for sports enthusiasts, with such facilities as a football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, volleyball nets, a skating area, and some of the few cycle lanes in the city. A boating lake and children’s playground make it popular with families too. Unsurprisingly, it is at its busiest at the weekends but despite its popularity it’s still probably your best chance of finding a private patch of grass in the city centre.
