The restaurants to the north of Quito tend toward international cuisine and fast food. With three of Quito's larger malls, El Jardin (at Amazonas and República), CCI (Amazonas and Naciones Unidas) and Quicentro (6 de Diciembre and Naciones Unidas), food courts are wildly popular; you will be hard-pressed to find a seat on weekends. There are also several nicer restaurants along Portugal from Eloy Alfaro down to Shyris. The crowds are less touristy at these spots, but that doesn't mean the prices are any less than at restaurants in Mariscal.
