Rusty Burger

As far as hamburger joints in Quito, this is probably the best around. Owned by a Californian transplant, Rusty, it has been a fixture in Quito since the 80s. They serve up all the fare you would expect for a diner: hamburgers, french fries, onion rings, milk shakes, even root beer! Sometimes you will find Rusty at the till taking orders, he is hard to miss with his handlebar mustache. It is a bit on the pricey side for Quito a simple meal costs around $5, but if you really need your greasy food fix it is a great place to go.

Traveler Reviews of Rusty Burger

Their thick-cut fries are better than the burgers!

This burger joint is kind of a legend here, which is why I was drawn to try it. The burger was good- if you like big and sloppy with lots of sauce. I couldn't actually taste the burger through the copious amount of sauce. If you ask for a cheeseburger, prepare yourself for BRIGHT orange American cheese.
If you're looking for a better fast food burger, try the one at Los Hot Dogs de la Gonzalez Suarez or at El Corral.
The best part of my experience at Rusty's was definitely the thick-cut fried (potato wedges). They are delightful in texture and flavor and are accompanied by a few tasty dipping sauces. Opt for these potatoes instead of the regular fries- seriously!

No more curly fries!

The new Rusty's doesn't have curly fries, they were amazing but apparently due to new laws they are no longer on the menu. Also Rusty´s is pricey and he loves trying to upsell, I think he's a little too pushy personally.

Yum!

Rusty's is the only place in Quito, maybe all of Ecuador, that serves rootbeer.. and I just can't get enough of it. Paired with their delicious curly fries and friendly service from Rusty himself, you can't go wrong!

Great Burgers!

You have not tasted a burger until you eat there! This is nothing like McDonalds or Burger King --the food actually has flavor!!!

Great, fresh burgers

Rusty's burgers are the best in Quito. If you're here on a trip and have a craving for fast food, try Rusty's instead of the usual chains. The food is vastly superior.
