Ciclopaseo - Bicycling Quito - Ecuador

Tired of dodging cars and buses, sucking up their fumes and listening to their blaring horns? Try the Ciclopaseo, a much saner way to explore the city. Now in its 10th year, the Ciclopaseo is an ever-expanding program that shuts down city streets to auto traffic every Sunday, creating a stretch of cycle-friendly asphalt for 20km. Quite├▒os are free to bike from Parque Las Cuadras in the south to far north of the city. The most popular stretch is along Amazonas, between Parque La Carolina and Parque El Ejido, but the path also leads through the Centro Hist├│rico on 10 de Agosto and Guayaquil. Bikes are available to rent, for $10 per day on the corner of Republica and Eloy Alfaro. BiciQ rents out bikes throughout the city as well. The event happens every Sunday from 8 am until 2 pm.
