If you're itching to get outside the city for a couple of hours, La Casa de Kingman Museo is a great option. Once home to one of Ecuador's greatest artists, this charming whitewashed building is now the residence of Kingman's photographs and paintings. In addition to Kingman's artwork, the museum also has an eclectic collection of republican and 20th century art, and colonial artefacts. Definately take the tour, as the gregarious Catalina Guerrero is a fountain of information, and is always delighted to answer questions. When you're finished inside, spend some time lounging in the beautiful courtyard outside. This is a great place to escape the smog and enjoy some time away from the city's tourist traffic.
