Getting Vaccines - Medical Quito - Ecuador

All travelers to Quito should come prepared with the necessary vaccinations to ensure a healthy stay. Some immunizations take a few weeks to kick in so consult a healthcare professional four to six weeks prior to your departure date to receive the recommended shots and medications. It is advised that all visitors to Quito originating in the United States or Europe receive Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines, in addition to making sure that measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and tetanus vaccines are current. Hepatitis A is recommended for every traveler, while Typhoid is specifically recommended to those who intend to eat or drink outside of major establishments. Additionally, if you suspect you may be in contact with blood or may have sexual encounters with locals, or if you plan on staying in Quito for more than six months, you should consider getting the Hepatitis B vaccine as well. The Yellow Fever vaccine is also highly recommended to anyone who plans on straying away from Quito to the more rural, costal and jungle areas of the region.
