V!VA User‘s Description

Luxury yachts are the most expensive, since they have the most lavish accommodations, the most professional crew, the highest quality food, and the most in-demand (level II or III) naturalist guides.

All yachts receiving this designation have air conditioning, hot water, double ocean-view cabins with private facilities, and spacious social areas (dining room, living room, sun decks). They also tend to be bigger and more stable (all of the cruise ships fall into this category) and have the best cruise itineraries (i.e. they visit more outlying islands).

Following is a complete list of the boats in this class:

The 100-foot dive boat Galapagos Aggressor I, also known as Jesus del Gran Poder, was specially designed for cruising the Galapagos archipelago in style.

The ketch-rigged motor sailor, Alta, has capacity for 16 passengers in eight double cabins complete with private bath, hot walk-in shower, and air conditioning.

The M/V Evolution, with a capacity for 32 passengers, has 15 total twin and double cabins and two suites, each beautifully furnished with private facilities, hot water, air conditioning, and more.

The Galapagos Explorer II is a 100-passenger cruise ship with 50 ultra-elegant suites, each with television, VCR, mini-bar, and satellite communication, in addition to the standard private facilities, hot water, and air conditioning.

The 90-passenger expedition ship, Galapagos Legend, is the fastest ship in the archipelago, offers the most extensive itineraries, and provides one of the most luxurious Galapagos cruise experiences.

The catamaran M/C Ahani is a new addition to the fleet of Galapagos Luxery boats and features 8 cabins with air conditioning, electrical outlets, hot water, an ocean views.  Also, being a catamaran, the M/C Ahani cuts through the water better than a single-hull and offers a smoother ride.

The Integrity is a modern 141’ motor yacht that recently began operations in mid-2005. Nine cabins, accommodating sixteen passengers on the main deck, are equipped with lower twin, queen, or king beds, picture windows, private bath, individual climate control, a stocked refrigerator, satellite telephone, and an entertainment center with television, CD/DVD, VHS, and LCD monitor.

The 40-guest Isabela II, with 20 spacious cabins with outside view, private bathrooms, hot water, and air conditioning, offers an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere for experiencing the full adventure of the Galápagos.

A Galapagos cruise on the 47-passenger Islander is one of the finest expedition-style experiences in the Galapagos Islands. Twenty-four comfortable cabins have outside views, private facilities, and climate controls.

The Lammer Law is a sixteen-passenger trimaran offering incredible space and comfort for naturalist and diving cruises.

The Parranda is an elegant, spacious 125’ motor yacht with capacity for 16 passengers in eight double cabins.

Traveling aboard the 80-passenger Polaris is a total experience in expeditionary cruising. The ship is large enough to operate comfortably in remote environments like the Galapagos, yet small enough to enter ports and narrow inlets inaccessible to bigger ships. Cabins are equipped with lower berths, private facilities, and air-conditioning.

The Santa Cruz, a 90-passenger cruise ship, is one of the only vessels exclusively designed for exploring the Galápagos. The 47 cabins are relatively spacious and well-maintained, each equipped with private facilities, hot water, and air conditioning.

The Eclipse boasts the most space for a vessel of its size in the Galápagos. The 48 passengers enjoy alfresco dining around the 20-foot pool and very spacious cabins.
