The 90-passenger expedition ship, Galapagos Legend, is the fastest ship in the archipelago, offers the most extensive itineraries, and provides the most luxurious—if not surreal—Galápagos cruise experience. Spacious cabins and social areas provide the ultimate in relaxation and enjoyment. Deluxe amenities—including numerous sun terraces, a swimming pool, an outdoor bar area, a music lounge, and a well-stocked library—will make you want to stay onboard and forget about blue-footed boobies and hammerhead sharks. Tours depart on Mondays and Thursdays and hit an impressive list of islands: Santa Cruz, Española, San Cristóbal, Bartolomé, Isabela, Fernandina, Santiago, and Rábida. Owner: Klein Tours

The crew and guides could not have been better. The service was quick and impeccable—the mood was relaxed but the activity level was high, with excursions to the islands and great guided tours.
Seeing the topography of the islands from a ship is the best way to go. The ship visits two islands each day, so there is ample opportunity to interact with all your favorite Galapagos critters! Passengers are taken to the islands in a panga in groups of 9 or 10 with a naturalist guide, and the staggering of tours assures visitors an intimate visit with the fearless inhabitants of the islands. Four days on the ship is probably long enough, as you will see all the most famous animals (blue footed boobies, sea lions, waved albatross, land iguanas, marine iguanas, frigate birds, giant tortoises), and experience the topography of seven different places. The longer cruises tend to see the same wildlife on the later islands. I recommend the four day cruise, followed by a stay on Santa Cruz Island—from there you can visit the Darwin Station, scuba dive, surf, mountain bike, hike, visit the city, take the water taxi around the bay, or just relax on one of the beaches!
I was on the 'Legend' for 4 days in the Galapagos this month (May). My particular Naturalist guide was very good and the island excursions were good generally, although sometimes they seemed hurried and the focus seemed more on tourism than on the wildlife and natural history of the Galapagos. However my overall experience onboard the 'Legend' was very disappointing. I thought that much of the crew was condescending and unhelpful, giving only a superficial appearance of friendliness. Next time I go to the Galapagos, it definitely wont be onboard the Legend. The Galapagos islands themselves are fantastic and deserve more than the 'Legend' can offer. The 'Legend' atmosphere onboard was far too touristy an environment to suit me.
it was amazing, all the crew made you feel like family and the trips were great

The cruise director was fantastic. Her husband was Austrian and lived in Vienna where I went to school as an exchange student. They made you feel like family. Best cruise I ever have been on. It would be a dream to come back with my family.
