The Athala

The Athala II is a luxury-class ship owned and operated by Huagan Cruises and Columbus Travel. It features eight nicely furnished double cabins, each with private bath, air conditioning, hot water and closet. The ship itself has a bar area, Jacuzzi, library, TV/DVD, and observation deck in addition to the dining area. The food is quite good and the staff and guides are very competent and professional. Those who wish can combine a trip on the Athala with a short stay in Puerto Ayora.

Family trip on the Athala

I took my wife and two kids (ages 6 and 8) on a trip on the Athala in October 2008 and it was amazing. Excellent guide, really nice staff, tasty food, all was fantastic. It's pricier than a lot of the boats out there, but it was also a lot nicer, and you really do get what you pay for in this case.
