Traveler Reviews of Gaby I

Loved the Galapagos Islands, hated our ship

Rating: 25%

The Galapagos Islands were everything we had hoped for, however our ship, the Gaby 1 was totally inadequate, unsafe and generally in very poor shape. The air conditioning worked about 1/10 of the time, the water trickled out of the shower and sink very infrequently and usually stopped when you were half way through your shower, the toilets could be flushed occasionally. The life jackets were a life hazard - should have been replaced or fixed long ago and there was a smell of diesel fuel constantly in the cabins. One of the portholes actually fell in onto one of the bunks while someone was in there! The guide that was on the ship could barely speak English so that was not good either. All in all a very poor experience and one I would not wish on anyone. One good thing - - the food was quite appetizing and the staff serving food were very nice.
