Amigo I

The Amigo I is a 16-passenger motor yacht with eight double cabins, each equipped with private bath and hot water. A small external sun-deck provides extra comfort during weeklong excursions beginning Fridays. The Amigo provides an adequate visitor experience for a reasonable price, offering seniors, students, and groups special discounts. It also has complementary snorkeling equipment and scuba-diving capabilities.

Four-day, five-day, and eight-day cruises depart on Mondays and Fridays and visit central and southern islands, including San Cristóbal.

Cruise on the Amigo

I did a cruise on the Amigo from 7 - 14 June. What I saw and did was absolutely wonderful, a once in a lifetime experience. The boat itself was a mixed experience. The crew were good and it was kept clean. It has a good setup for meeting people. The guide was excellent but usually did luxury boats. I was in a lower cabin where there was little ventilation. There is air conditioning but in the lower cabins it worked so badly that almost no one used it with some people opting to sleep elsewhere. The side cabins were o.k. The food was good but at times there wasn't enough of it. The boat is top heavy and sways and thumps in mild seas. I couldn't imagine what it would be like in a storm. Day life jackets were often faulty and the boat launch isn't big enough for 16 passengers. Twelve is really the absolute limit. If you book an 8 day cruise there is about 6 days of activities. Shorter cruises are simply not worth it as so much time is spent picking u and dropping off passengers and in ports which aren't really interesting.
