The Angelique is a stylish sailing yacht with capacity for 16 passengers in eight double bunk cabins, each equipped with private facilities, hot water and air conditioning. Although social spaces are limited and décor a bit outdated, the Angelique adds a few modern touches—television, VCR, small bar, library—to the colonial, pirate-ship ambience. Snorkeling equipment is available free of charge. In the spirit of swashbuckling adventure, the Angelique also spans the archipelago with her itinerary, hitting northern, central and southern islands.

One of my best vacations ever! Great crew, great captain and great guide; Janet. Everything was perfect!
The Galapagos are a great destination, but when it comes down to the Angelique things are a bit different. I got th impression that the ship was about to break down any moment. The crew had a very hard time every time trying to raise or lower the anchor, it made an incredible noise sometimes for hours, and sleeping impossible. Also the motor broke down twice, which also meant no light on board and no food until very late in the night. On the last day the motor broke down again, and we missed the last island on our itinerary because of it. Besides this, the crew was not very nice, rather uninterested, and the guide, Wilmer, was never there when there were troubles and people had questions.Somethings that were good after all: the guide was knowledgable, the excursions were interesting and the food was surprisingly good.
The Angelique is a motor sailer but it does not sail. The decor is traditional with real character, the air conditioned cabins are small but with good-sized comfortable bunks. Food was excellent at first but detiorated in both quantity and quality when the crew changed in the middle of our trip. There was a problem concerning the snorkeling equipment which was included in price, but the crew insisted that a fee of $25 pp was payable. It was not until the 5th day of our cruise that the passangers helped themselves to the equipment without payment. Our guide, Wilmer, was knowledgeable but trying to understand his English was more trouble than it was worth. There were numerous cockroaches on board and the boat spent a day being fumigated whilst the passangers were fed ashore. The 8 day cruise itinerary was excellent with an interesting variation between the North and South islands. Generally the crew were not friendly and for the most part seemed to find the passengers an inconvience. We seemed to be always waiting for someone to take us ashore or return us to the boat. Other than the last day, we waited beteween 15 mins and 1.5 hours for them, and this was extremely irritating. Our guide had little influence or authority over the crew who worked to their own schedule. All in all the trip was enjoyable, but the attitude of the crew was poor, and for this reason I would not reccomend the Angelique.
Great crew great experience....
I ventured off to the Galapagos Islands with a friend of mine for Christmas/New Year's 02/03--without a doubt, the best trip I have ever taken. We both LOVED the Angelique. The crew was friendly, the chef prepared fantastic meals, and well, the Galapagos Islands were everything we had expected and more. Contrary to other reviews, we DID in fact use the sails...not the entire time...but when the wind and weather permitted, the sails were raised and aided the motor...BEAUTIFUL! I highly recommend the Angelique.
Two years ago my son and I traveled on the Angelique. We had a fantastic experience with a caring and professional crew. Since we both spoke Spanish, we were able to play cards in the evening with the crew and they even let us up in the captain chair for a photo op. The guide could not have been better. We loved the trip but must say that some nouveau riche California type tourists on the trip with us were unpleasant to travel with because they were seeking more luxury than the Angelique provides. We loved it, and my son is returning to Ecuador this month to study and hopes to travel on the Angelique again at the end of his study time. It was our kind of trip - lots of fabulous snorkeling and seeing those wonderful Galapagos animals!
My daughter Cathy and a group of school teachers chartered the Angelique for the week several years ago. So I thought that would be good enough for me. Especially that it was now air-conditioned. The Angelique does not sail. They really don't even have many sails. So what. To get from one to another island sailing is silly. The distances are too great. Television is a misnomer. The TV was used for editing digital photos and showing MTV videos and movies. Also so what. One goes to the Galapagos for the Galapagos. The price and accomodations are reasonable and much more comfortable than and sailing yacht that we have bare-boated. Our experience however was very good. The food is good the crew and guides(s) were knowledgeable, the island experiences were, as has to be for the Galapagos, unparalleled. Galapagos experiences are generally a once in a lifetime adventure. Go for it now.
The boat was reasonably appointed but does have a tendency to roll at certain times. The Food was very good and the chef provided a good variety at all times. I thorough ly enjoyed our trip and would recommend the boat to anyone
