The Galápagos Islands are an amazing place for exploring underwater habitats. Due to the collision of warm and cool ocean currents, there is an astounding diversity and abundance of Galápagos fish species. That does not mean, however, that mastering marine creature identification is impossible.
The following pages are an introductory guide to the most common shore animals, cartilaginous fish (sharks and rays), and bony fish that can be seen when snorkeling.
