The capital and administrative center of the Galápagos, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, has the second-largest population (5,600 inhabitants) in the archipelago, after Puerto Ayora.
Although the tourist infrastructure is less advanced here than in Puerto Ayora, visitors to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno are not without options. Hotels, stores, restaurants, and travel agencies line the boardwalk, and internet cafes, telephone centers, and banks are common. There is also a small post office, police station, and hospital. The Galápagos campus of the San Francisco University is also in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, so university staff and students reside here.

Puerto Baquerizo, nice hangout

Incredible! Don't miss out on this charming village!
100%Unlike the majority of Galapagos tourists, we spent 7 days on the island of San Cristobal in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. It was an incredible experience! The people are extremely kind and hospitable even though tourism is not as popular here as on other islands. They opened their homes and lives to us allowing us to truly experience their unique, relaxed way of life. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Restaurants and lodging are clean, friendly and plentiful. The sites are unique and worth visiting - don't miss the hike up the hill to El Junco - the view makes the trek completely worth it! and snorkeling with sea lions on Lobos Island is a completely indescribable experience! We can't wait to visit again! Thanks, San Cristobal!
