Baltra
Most visitors to the Galapagos archipelago arrive by way of the airport on Baltra, which originally served as a US Navy base. There are no visitor sites or accommodations on Baltra (and the land iguana species that used to live on Baltra has been eliminated), and the only facilities available on Baltra relate to air traffic and transportation. From the airport you can catch a bus to the canal, where you can catch an 80-cent ferry to Santa Cruz, and to the port, where visitors with pre-arranged tours meet their boat.
