La Casa De Marita - Hotel Puerto Villamil - Ecuador

Back in the day, the casa de Marita was just about the only place you could stay in tiny Puerto Villamil. Marita and her family had a head start on other lodging options in town, and they have made good use of it. What was once a little guesthouse has evolved into a classy, well-run beachfront hotel. If you were there years ago, you may not recognize it: it’s gone upscale, with nice rooms, a fancy restaurant and prices to match. It’s well-located on the beach and the rooms are clean, airy and nice. The suites all face the ocean.

It’s best for middle or high-end travelers who want to spend a couple days on Isabela and who want to save some money by avoiding the much more expensive Iguana Crossing and Red Mangrove Hotels. The staff there will help you book trips while on Isabela.

Even if you’re not staying there, the hotel restaurant is very good, with locally produced food.
