Casa del Lago Café Cultural

The Casa del Lago Cafe Cultural was opened in 2004 by former guide and Imbabura resident Elena Albarado to provide a space for local artists, performers, movie screenings and festivals, special events, and other cultural activities. The cafe serves organic coffee grown on the islands and fantastic coffee drinks, perfectly complemented by helados de paila, homemade ice cream. It also serves tasty and inexpensive breakfasts and vegetarian dishes, including healthy soups, salads, middle-eastern food, and bagels, those "panes raros" (strange breads) that U.S. tourists constantly crave. Internet, musical instruments, and board games are available for short-term use, and paintings and wooden crafts created by local elderly residents Come and enjoy participating in a socially responsible, delicious, and eye-catching (picture windows face the Laguna Las Ninfas) production.

beautiful view

I had a great time eatting in Casa deL Lago cultural cafe this is a lodging too is a beautiful place unfortunately the suites were full but atless i enjoyed eatting there .They have small menu but what they have is healthy and for me was not expensive considering that fruits and vegetables are expensive in all town they prepare great breakfast, they are open 7 a.m. green salads, vegetables soups, vegetables tortillas, bagels , and the best for me home made ice cream .......and the galapagos filter coffee...go and visit Cafe Cultural Casa del Lago if you want a great food beside that is a charmy terrace in the second floor of the coffee place ,they trade books too , this place is close to a beautiful lake , the owner is a very pretty young woman call Elena .

Great Time / Great Hosts

Elena and Enrique were both fun to hang out with after a great meal. We'd share a little wine while we played and sang songs. Elena, having experience as a guide, planned a few magnificent trips for us. She was very easy going about it, no pressure. I should also add that they both gave us enough privacy.

what else you can ask for...?

What else you can ask for...? I was seatting in the second floor drinking a pure organic filter coffee from galapagos and a piece of chocolate cake. this cultural coffee place has a great rustic decoration they have exhibits of paints, photos, I was lucky I saw the owner of this place to sing in one of their cultural nights. Now if you want vegetarian fast food ...this is the place very good prices ,...the most expensive is $ 6 dollars for a great spaggetty al huerto and finally ask for the unic home made ice cream (HELADO DE PAILA) made only with the juice of the fruit ...for vegetarians are perfect.I highly recommend you LA CASA DEL LAGO CAFE CULTURAL...

great coffee

this is the only place I could get pure anf filter coffee in town most of the places ofert NESCAFE in a glass jar...dont drink that, they dont have a big menu but what they have are very helthy vegetarian fast food, if you want to eat there you have to make a reservation. The prices ...very good .....the beer a litlebit expensive but the place is beautiful , peaceful an nice view they are close to a lake , so when you are a place like this one you dont care to drink two beers.....GREAT DECORATION.

Buen ambiente

Sorry, Do not come here for the food.

The atmosphere is great, but unfortunately form doesn{t always follow function. The breakfast is much overpriced at $5. The coffee tasted burnt and old and was served cold. The orange juice was extraordinarily sour. The pancake was drizzled with sickening sweet fruit syrup. The tiny fruit salad was nothing to write home about and was served in a tall glass so it was impossible to mix the yogurt and granola throughout the salad. The chairs look really neat but are tiny and uncomfortable. The road is noisy nearby.

great experience

We are Mrs and Mr. Dubonnet and we really want to thanks to Elena and Enrique for such great help giving us all kinds of advice about what to do, where to go and how much to pay. The food we ate was great, excellent service, so beautiful, close to the lake. We really reconmmend this and the prices are inexpensive. You will find their signs in the diferent places in town as a CASA DEL LAGO, look for them because they offer lodging too. Thanks to CASA DEL LAGO for a great vacation. Mary.
