The eclectic Restaurante El Descanso del Guia is a local staple, its friendly and unassuming owner Irlanda Banguera having served typical Ecuadorian dishes there for over ten years. It is popular for breakfasts, especially fruit salads and secos de carne and pollo (chicken and beef soups) to-go. It also attracts locals for the inexpensive yet hearty fixed lunch menu, which often includes Irlanda's famous meatballs. The sparse decorations and assorted furnishings make the interior a bit drab superficially, but the surrounding greenery, cool breeze from the ocean, and friendly service add refreshment and life to the establishment.
