The concrete building perched above the Malecón strip might be considered an eyesore, but in terms of value for money, travelers will find this place financially appealing. Rooms are simple, with bunks, TV, fan, and private bathrooms, and most offer a seaside view through screen-less windows (beware of mosquitoes). Bathrooms are nicely tiled and relatively clean, though hot water doesn’t always appear. Despite being in need of a good back-breaking once-over clean, the rooms are cozy and tidy and the staff extremely friendly. The hotel is also centrally located, so this is one of the safer options. Also, if you’re visiting during high season, it always helps to negotiate with the owner, who might knock off a few dollars.
