Hotel

By Katie Tibbetts

This is one of the few places in Atacames offering the distinct feel of a large hotel chain: artwork-adorned walls, precisely made beds with matching nightstands and that ever-so-friendly paper tab wrapped around the toilet to signal no one has used it since the last cleaning. Besides modern bathrooms and air conditioning, Hotel Club del Sol offers a host of other trademark resort amenities, including a restaurant, bar, pool, and games area. Though significantly more expensive than the simple rooms up for grabs on the Malecón, the price is right if you’re looking for something private, secure, and upper-scale.

Traveler Reviews of Hotel Club Del Sol

DO NOT KEEP A TAB!

Rating: 50%

The ceviche was awesome. The staff was good but slow (which I expected). The rooms were nothing fancy, but clean. We paid to have the breakfast and lunch and/or dinner included in the price of the room. I would definitely not do that again as we only took advantage of the breakfast two times and it only included eggs, hard croissoints, and juice and coffee. We kept a tab and were there for a total of 2 days. Our tab was almost $200! They added on things such as tobaco and misc. items that we did not purchase. I would have argued it, but my taxi was waiting to take me to the airport so I did not have time. I did feel very safe here. It is a bit of a walk to the malecon where all the action is, and I would not walk back late at night. Needless to say I would not stay here again, but I might drop in for a bowl of ceviche.
