Like a number of places in Atacames, Hotel Galleria has seen better days. The small, dark rooms set in a conspicuously large sagging wooden building offer little more than a bathroom, simple bunks and a seems-to-work ceiling fan. Despite appearances, however, the hotel is not without its charms. Balconies feature slivers of seaside views, while the restaurant downstairs has an extensive menu, specializing in pizza and pasta, as well as street side and ocean views, a perfect spot for sharing a few drinks with friends or just people watching. Ask owner Milton Altamirano about the package deal—a real steal considering it’s Atacames: room, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner for $10. It may not be the Hilton, but you can’t beat Hotel Galleria’s value.
