Hotel Orus is one of the few modern-looking, multi-storied hotels in Atacames and features a terrace-top pool overlooking the sea. Rooms are simple but clean, with private bathrooms and hot water. Unfortunately, this otherwise modern hotel lacks air conditioning, so you might have to make frequent trips to the terrace for a dip. The hotel also owns Nagiba Bar, on the beach side of Malecón. The entrance is around the corner from the street-facing bakery and is a nice place for Nescafé coffee or fresh-baked treats.

Bugs, rats, NO HOT WATER, NO security.
This is the single worst experience I've ever had traveling in South America and we've visited over a 1/2 dozen times. We were even robbed of an Aeropostle mens jacket and a new pair of Nike sneakers by one of the hotel staff. There was NO hot water, one towel was provided for the 8 people residing in 2 rooms that we booked for the one night @ an approximate cost of $140.00. When in the lobby c/o our missing items to a non-concerned hotel staff, we saw several RATS scurrying in the room adjoining the lobby. A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE.
It's a beautiful hotel.
