V!VA User‘s Description
Accommodation in Atacames runs from cheap backpacker dives offering little more than a bed to more luxurious resorts featuring courtyard pools, air conditioned rooms and on site restaurants and bars. Budgeters don’t necessarily need to suffer through their stay, as a few new places have recently gone up that are reasonably priced and offer brand new, ultra-clean facilities. You’re best to scout out the area (and prices) before choosing to throw down your pack. Most places are located on the Malecón, but there are a number of good options further east and west, along the beach. Do be aware, however, that walking the beach alone at night is not recommended, so if you plan on bar hopping all night you’ll probably want to stick to the Malecón.
