Situated south of Muisne and Mompiche, Chamanga is a lively place, featuring houses built on stilts over the estuary. While there is not much going on in town, this is a good piggy-back point to more interesting sites nearby, such as the majestic mangroves and good walking trails. The Reserva Ecológica Mache Chindul, managed by the Jatun Sacha Foundation, stretches across the provincial boarder offering unique flora and fauna. For volunteer oppotunities, check out www.jatunsacha.org/ingles/volunteer_ecuador.htm. For more information on visiting the reserve, contact the Jatun Sacha Foundation.
