Hotel Casino Palm Beach - Hotel Esmeraldas (City) - Ecuador

The brand-new Hotel Casino Palm Beach is one of the most luxurious of Esmeraldas' lodging options. The hotel isn't exactly beach front, but it's about 100 meters away from the palm-lined Las Palmas beach. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous, and the manager is always glad to chat. The owner has French and Italian roots, and the decor and restaurant menu reflect this Mediterranean influence. Rooms are spacious, clean and bright, and offer a minibar, flat screen television, high-quality linens and mattresses and hot water in the private bathrooms. Most have a partial or full view of the beach, and there’s a Jacuzzi on the first floor. The place is relatively new and has to work out some kinks, but it has a very pleasant feel about it and is a good option if you have the money. Breakfast is included in the price as well.

Take a cab to the Malecón of Las Palmas ($3 from the bus terminal), and the driver should drop you off in a traffic circle bordering the beach. Facing inland from the circle, you should spot the five-story hotel easily.
