At Casa de Amigos, proprietors warmly greet their guests from the veranda overlooking the beach with a cool beer and friendly attitude. The hotel that has been open since the spring of 2007 has thirteen rooms that have TV, air conditioning and warm showers.

The best part is that the hotel has a bar and a restaurant, which serves some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico. The service is great, as the name of the hotel implies, it is definitely a house of friends. On the weekends, locals flood the beaches by the busloads, but during the week it is very quiet and there is nothing much to do except walk on the beach, take a dip in the sea and chill. This hotel is a great place for anyone looking for some sweet chill-out time.

In March 2008 we stayed in Same, Esmeraldas. After surfing the web looking for hotels in Esmeraldas, we decided on this resort in Same. However, hotel accommodation was a little harder to find, especially when you don't speak Spanish. We came across a web page for the Casa de Amigos, which is not mentioned on any of the Ecuador sites we had visited and no reviews and nothing in the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet guidebooks, but we didn't want to stay at the Casablanca (the only other hotel with a web page in the area). So, we took the plunge and booked Casa de Amigos. We thoroughly enjoyed the escape in Same and the hotel. We would recommend this to anyone.
