Getting to and away from Jama

No direct buses exist between Jama and Quito or Guayaquil. Visitors will need to go to Pedernales first (6 hr from Quito, 7 hr from Guayaquil), then take a COACTUR or Costanorte bus south to Jama from there. The trip between Pedernales and Jama is approximately one hour via bus.

If you have your own car, the best route to take from Quito is Quito-Santo Domingo-Pedernales-Jama, which should take around six hours. From Guayaquil, the best route is Portoviejo-Pedernales-Jama, which should take five or six hours.
