I would recommend living with a family through this program. They are all fantastic and it is a great way to practice Spanish 24 hours a day. The teachers are all really good, I had no problems with anyone. The town itself isn't itself the most exciting place in Ecuador, but it is a coastal town with a lot of great beaches (depending on the time you decide to go). Not the same atmosphere in the city as Montañita, which has a tendency to be a bit more of a drunken party city and not the same beauty as other say Quito, but it has its own charm. Manuel, who runs the school, is absolutely fantastic and very helpful no matter what you want to do or where you want to travel. The area is safe and you can easily walk to school every day from all houses it seems. The other fantastic thing about the school is that there is a relationship with a Kite Surfing school. I didn't plan on trying it, but i did and it was awesome. It has IKO certified instructors, they pick you up from the school and the beach is beautiful. So depending on the season, inquire about the kitesurfing or surfing if it is the right season. Overall, I highly recommend it for learning Spanish. Its a very well coordinated school.
