Perched on a high cliff overlooking the sea, the hotel’s romantic setting is somewhat marred by the its circus-style construction. Rooms, however, are tasteful and the staff stylish. A modern reception area with marble floors and modern art decorating the walls ushers visitors towards large, modern rooms with all the amenities one might expect from a chain-like hotel: mini-fridge, phone, Cable TV, air conditioning, and a spacious bathroom with tiled floors and a sliding glass shower door. Relax and unwind in the swimming pool and sauna area, grab a Turkish bath, or make your way directly to the beach. When you get hungry, head to the hotel’s bar and restaurant where you can sample traditional Manabí fare, or enjoy more familiar ethnic cuisine.

Hotel Costa del Sol

Travel date: late March09.If you're looking for Bahamas-like service and amenities, go next door to Oro Verde.  This place should be rated as budget level.  Simple amenities.  Simple settings.  The pool/spa area are small but adequate since not many guests are in this hotel.  The views from the balcony are spectacular (same view as Oro Verde).  Not as conveniently situated as Oro Verde since it's located down at the dead end and you have to walk down a steep driveway to the entrance but for the price minded traveller, this place should fit the bill.  Rooms are adequate but not much for storing clothes (no dresser).  The staff was friendly and responsive.  Hot water was a plus.  A/C unit was noisy and not easy to reach.  Dorm-sized refrigerator and microwave with cord too short to be plugged in. bed was not very comfortable but the maid service was spot on and thorough.  Free built-in safe in closet gave us pice of mind.In my opinion, overall rating would be a 6.5 of 10.  They have a lot of room for improvements but should be considered by the frugal traveller.
