Pedernales is growing quickly, and new hotels open all the time. They top out at about three stars: a couple have pools, which is a bonus. The cheapest ones are located a block or two off the beach, although there are a couple of dives at the south end of the malecón that might be classified as jails more than hostels.
On holidays and weekends, the cheesy bars try to out-do one another with blasting speakers: if you intend to get any sleep at all, steer clear of hotels on or near the malecón.
