El Descanso - Hotel Mindo - Ecuador

Located off the main drag (to the right if you are entering from the main access road), El Descanso is a little more expensive than its many hotel neighbors, but has clean, fresh rooms with hardwood floors and lofts. An open-air café and lounge looks out onto a lovely garden, where staff has spotted up to 18 different species of hummingbird. The lounge also has games for guests. Staying in the open-air attic loft with a shared bathroom is the cheapest option. Prices include breakfast, but if you'd rather not eat there, you can get a discounted price without breakfast. It’s a good idea to bring slippers or flip flops because there are no shoes allowed on the hardwood floors.
