Mindo Gardens is owned by a huge Ecuadorian corporation. You wouldn’t know it with this quiet, isolated hotel, though, which is 2 km past the Butterfly Farm (about a half-an-hour drive down an unpaved road from the main center of Mindo). The hotel complex is set in a 300 hectare (741 acres) private reserve of secondary cloud forest, rivers and waterfalls.

From the parking lot, walk down the main path to the reception, restaurant and main lounge, which has games, a pool table and a TV. The paths continue to different cabins, each of which has 3 rooms. There is a total capacity for about 52 guests. The Mindo River runs along the edge of the cabins and provides a melodic soundtrack to your stay.

Rooms are colorful, clean and comfortable; although punctuated with obnoxiously bright curtains and bed covers. Rooms vary in size depending on the size of your group.

The restaurant is spacious and ideal for large groups. The regular menu is quite limited – with a couple of pizzas and traditional Ecuadorian dishes – but for large groups, more food selection is offered.

Getting There:
Mindo Gardens is about a 30 minute drive from the center of Mindo down an unpaved path past the Butterfly Farm (Mariposario). Follow signs.

If you don't have private transportation, the hotel can arrange to pick you up from the bus stop in the center
