Most restaurants in Mindo are nothing special, offering Ecuadorian cuisine as opposed to international. Some of the typical dishes you will find in Mindo are: tilapia – a type of fish usually served with rice, salad, and patacones (plantain chips); ceviche de palmita: the typical cold soup made with heart of palm, lime, diced onion, tomato and cilantro; and trucha al ajillo: fresh trout in a garlic sauce, usually served with rice, salad and patacones.
If you are craving international cuisine, probably the best you will get is pizza. El Rincón del Río, just a block off the main drag before the plaza has excellent thin crust pizza. A personal pizza runs from $4-6 depending on how many ingredients and is served fresh. Pepe Grillo, just up the hill heading out of Mindo is another good Italian option.
The only internet café in town is on the main drag, Café Net, and costs $1.50/hour.
Other good restaurants along the main drag are: Café Mindo, Café Canela and Asadero Leandro. Each of the larger hotels has a restaurant as well which offer a little more variety.
