
Most restaurants in Mindo are nothing special, offering Ecuadorian cuisine as opposed to international. Some of the typical dishes you will find in Mindo are: tilapia – a type of fish usually served with rice, salad, and patacones (plantain chips); ceviche de palmita: the typical cold soup made with heart of palm, lime, diced onion, tomato and cilantro; and trucha al ajillo: fresh trout in a garlic sauce, usually served with rice, salad and patacones. If you are craving international cuisine, probably the best you will get is pizza.
