This little town squatting on the shores of the Río Caoni was, ironically, originally intended to be the capital’s port (hence the name). Today, it sits smack dab in the middle of the main circuit to the coast vía Quito, Calacalí and La Independencia.
An area of extreme natural beauty, bisected by the Caoni and its tributaries, the lands surrounding Puerto Quito are divided by a number of reserves and dotted with good resorts. Due to its natural resources as well as its growing ecological and economic infrastructure, Puerto Quito is ideal for going wild in the wilds: from bird watching to river rafting, kayaking and swimming to walking this is the place to clear the mind and the lungs.
