Transportation

V!VA User‘s Description

The bus terminal is about 1.5 kilometers north of the central part of town, if you head out of town along Avenida de los Tsáchilas. The bus station is actually just off Avenida Abraham Calazacón. For convenience, take a taxi to get to and away, especially if arriving or leaving at night. Due to its central location in Ecuador, getting to and away from Santo Domingo de los Colorados is easy—you can get buses to most other parts of the country from this bus terminal, but it is especially easy to get to coastal towns from here. If you’re headed north to Esmeraldas and the beach, the journey takes around three hours. To hit the coast further south of Esmeraldas, you can get a bus to Pedernales, which takes three hours, or to Bahía de Caráquez (four hours) or to Manta, which takes around six hours. If you are going to Guayaquil, the bus travels via Quevedo and the journey takes four hours. As a general rule, expect to pay approximately one dollar per hour of journey.
