The location of the lodge, apart from the 20 minute dusty hike to and from the main road, is great. It is set in the middle of the forest south of Ayampe with views of the ocean. There are lovely flowers and plants as you walk around the area. The lodge itself maintains the natural, rustic feeling of the surroundings. However, their claims to be an ecolodge are susceptible.

With capacity for 26 people, there are two cabañas set apart from the main building. These are more expensive but worth the privacy and views if you don’t mind climbing a moss-covered staircase that is not very well-lit at night. The rooms themselves are really nothing special and have had reports of bedbugs. The main lounge features satellite TV, a sitting area and a fuse-ball table that looks and plays like an antique. The decorations in the lounge are an eccentrically eclectic mix of the lodge's wholesome natural wood construction and aging hippie decorations like a mohair couch cover, faded tie-dyed tapestries and a collection of bongo drums.

The prices listed here are for low season, expect to pay more for high season. Also, don't be shy to negotiate your price, you just might get lucky. The first price is for the rooms in the main building, cabañas cost at least $4 more per person. You can also arrange for tours to Isla de la Plata, river tours, and horseback rental, but prices tend to be inflated.

Transportation can be arranged from Puerto Lopez or Guayaquil if you make arrangements in advance. If you plan to bring a fair amount of luggage, don’t enjoy walking long distances or travel with rolling suitcases, private transportation is recommended.

Everything was excellent. Everyone made us feel welome. The food is awesome. The view from any point is breathtaking. The sounds everywhere are enchanting. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I must return again!!
