If you are looking for a quick stop for a snack and a cool drink, Bopán's corner location facing the Malecón 2000 provides a great place to watch Guayaquil´s bustling city life pass by the window.
The restaurant holds true to its name by serving real espresso (not always easy to find in Guayaquil) over hand-painted table-tops inspired by tropical flowers, coastal scenes, and Ecuadorian culture. The “pan” part is where the restaurant has strayed while it has changed owners and become a local chain—the bread is not always very fresh.
The atmosphere inspires reading a book or journal-writing while sipping a “Frozen” (as the blended, icy juices are called on the menu) and nibbling a “torta de acelga” (chard tort), Spanish omelet, or fruity crepes.
Bopán also offers breakfast options and lunch specials at reasonable prices. Service is prompt, the place is very clean, and the bathroom is nice.
