For those looking to get out of downtown Guayaquil and into a residential area of the city, or those just looking for a comfortable place to spend the night close to the bus terminal or airport, Ecuahogar is an excellent option. This part of the city is a wonderful place to get a feel for a bustling, middle-class neighborhood in the city that never sleeps.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a TV, and both private and shared baths have hot water. Extra services include the on-site restaurant called “Mi Tierra,” laundry service, and staff that speak English, French, and German. As a tour operator, they also offer inexpensive shuttle service from the airport or bus terminal for all group sizes and can provide travel advice or arrange itineraries.

Escape from the cosmopolitan aspect of Guayaquil that municipal politicians are creating in the renovated downtown area and get a taste of the warmth for which Guayaquileñans are well-known.

Great place

I very much liked the owners of Ecuahogar. The neighborhood was super safe and being out at night was fine. Internet, supermarkets, phone cabinas, and restaurants are close. The bus and metrovia terminal are walkable. I stayed for a month while working on a student project.

I wasn't impressed

I stayed here with my boyfriend and it was not very uncomfortable for me. The bed and bathroom seemed quite dirty and they ran out of toilet paper. The A/C didn't work very well and it made a horrible sound every 15 minutes. The woman running the place was very loud in the morning.
