Situated in Guayaquil´s downtown banking district (a.k.a. “a well-guarded area”) just three blocks from Malecón 2000 and one block from 9 de Octubre, Hotel La Fontana is the best located hotel in its price range. Considering its central location, the hotel is rather quiet. Just across the street is one of the stops for the Metrovía (Electric buses soon to be functioning in Guayaquil.), which runs from the bus terminal in the North direct to downtown and beyond.

Within comfortable walking distance, visitors will find restaurants, bars, and nightclubs; tour operators ready to book Galápagos trips; artisan markets, museums, and venues, in addition to the city’s oldest churches, parks, plazas, and monuments.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and the reception and rooms are comfortably air conditioned. Rooms have air conditioning, private bath with hot water, TV with cable, and a telephone. Inexpensive shuttle service from the airport or bus terminal can also be arranged.

Tips: For those with dust allergies, request a room with tile floor instead of carpeting. Discounted rates available for more than one night’s stay.
