Hotel Montañita

Breaking from Montañita’s classic hippy style, Hotel Montañita is a large, concrete block of rooms with a pool in the central courtyard. During high season, the jacuzzi heats up on a deck overlooking the ocean. With space for 150 guests and eight years of history, the size and age seem to have faded away whatever personality Hotel Montañita could have had. Rooms are fairly cramped, with thin mattresses and concrete bed bases, and in desperate need of a good airing out. During high season, breakfast and tax are included in the price. Discounts are available for groups of eight or more people.

Just what we expected

The hostel provides a safe parking lot if you have a vehicle. At $10 per person, the view along is worth the price. Rooms are nothing special but clean. Put on bug spray, as mosquitos and other pests abound at night if you leave the window open to listen to the sound of the waves. Right in the middle of town, and a very relazing terrace overlooking the ocean laden with cozy hammocks.
