Housed in an old colonial-style building sitting behind glass-faced holiday high-rises, Hotel Yulee is a charming architectural throwback. Bright yellow paint enlivens a sagging wooden façade, which leads into a modest, but well-appointed dining area on the first floor and up a flight of stairs towards cathedral ceiling hallways and spacious rooms on the second floor. Accommodation is modest, and perhaps a bit steep considering the aged building and other more modern budget options in town, but the there’s no denying this place comes with character. The shuttered windows open to lovely views and at night a soothing breeze blows in from the sea, and you can see the city lights shimming in the distance. Cheaper with shared bath. Be prepared to negotiate with the owner.

Dingy, Dark, Dirty

This place was way worse than we could have ever imagined. The rooms were extremely dingy...things were falling apart. The bathrooms were disgusting. We didn't even stay for an hour. I'm not sure what the "charm" is that's being referred to in the description, but we didn't find any there.
