Tsafiki does a good job of being fairly luxurious without sacrificing personality, maybe because of its inspired name, which means "the tongue of the real man" in a native Ecuadorian coastal language. Cabañas have terraces, fresh flowers and hypoallergenic mattresses, pillows and blankets. The main lounge features great ocean views, a pool table, an English and Spanish book exchange, and a restaurant with outdoor seating. Tsafiki offers whale-watching excursions and tours to nearby hot spots like Isla de la Plata, as well as horseback excursions for $25 per person (the hostería owns 17 horses).
